Penny Cortright lives and works in Santa Barbara, CA. Formerly a studio painter, she received an M.F.A. From UC Berkeley in 1984. Her current work delves into the eclectic world of quilts. Obsessed with textiles and influenced by her Montana grandmother, she embraces traditional and contemporary approaches to quilt making. Using textiles sourced from all over the globe she combines texture, pre-quilted pieces and multiple patterns with an erratic use of color, bending tradition to her liking.
